International testing standard for artificial turf
Time:2023-06-28 ClickNo:321

Artificial turf have been used for decades. In the traditional sense, the development of artificial turf stems from the limitation of natural grass. However, the early artificial turf was not designed for football,As a result, the concept of playing at a high level on artificial surfaces has not been fully accepted by the football world.

FIFA is aware that as the game becomes more popular around the world . The limitations of the climate are becoming more and more prominent, natural turf can no longer meet to survive in inclement weather. With the development of a new generation of artificial turf pitches, FIFA has recognised that artificial turf pitches offer a significant boost to football, This is not only better than natural grass weather resistance, but also because it can be used continuously in all weather. As a result, FIFA has developed the FIFA Quality Concept for Artificial Turf, Since 2001, it has promoted the certification of the "FIFA Recommended Mark" for artificial turf fields.

1.The level and content of the FIFA Quality Concept

The concept is divided into two FIFA Recommended 2 Star and one FIFA Recommended 1 Star levels. The 1 star is used mainly for FIFA Junior tournaments and other types of events.

The FIFA Recommendation Mark will only be awarded to artificial turf soccer pitches.not just a single piece of turf.As a result, first, manufacturers must  pass laboratory tests that include product identification, durability, weather resistance, and how the player (or ball) interacts with the turf surface.

After passing these tests, all the paved soccer fields are tested on the field, including the structure of the field and the interaction between the players (or the ball) and the surface of the turf.

2. Methods for testing the concept of FIFA quality

2.1 Laboratory tests

Laboratory tests include product identification, durability, weather ability, player/turf interaction, and ball/turf interaction tests.

(1). Test conditions

The laboratory test temperature shall be 23±2 ° C. Samples shall be kept at this temperature for a minimum of 3 hours and shall be tested using FIFA specified balls.

(2). Product identification

Product identification mainly includes the identification of turf, cushions and fillers
